Men's 1st VIIIWelcome to the website of the legendary St. Hilda's College Boat Club. With St Hilda’s College being founded in 1893, the boat club followed shortly afterwards to contribute further to female rowing in Oxford. Myriad successes have been achieved over the decades, with the club moving up quickly in both Torpids and Summer Eights to secure top positions in the senior divisions. As the other all-female colleges in Oxford became mixed, St Hilda’s remained strong in the face of change and maintained its all-female status. Every year, enthusiastic, determined crews have been entered into the regattas, and have dominated both novice and senior races.

The Boat Club has now been host to both male and female rowers for the past year, and its successes have only continued in both arenas, the Club quickly forming two dedicated men's teams, both of whom have competed in the 2008/2009 season's races with success. They have proven with gusto that, novices or not, it is commitment above all else that matters upon the water, and confidence in the crews abound.

The boat club is by far the largest club within college, with no less than 40 active members at any one time. Michaelmas term always sees a large number of very enthusiastic Freshers join the club and train throughout the term for Christchurch Regatta. Many continue to row for the college throughout their degrees, and Hilda’s has had its fair share of successful Blues rowers and coxes; even an Olympian!

Hilda’s is a very fun and relaxed college, the boat club social calendar certainly reflecting this. There are regular crew dates and post-race dinners, but the highlight of the year is our annual Siren’s Dinner. Held in Trinity Term, this dinner celebrates the rich history of the Boat Club with both current members and alumni coming together for what is always a memorable night.
